Dear Dr. Ronald E. McNair High School Community,
Where has the time gone? It’s time to begin a new school year! As the delighted principal of Dr. Ronald E. McNair High School (REMHS), it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year! As always, we are excited to have students in our classrooms and hallways to fill them with energy and enthusiasm for learning. At REMHS, our mission is to educate, equip and empower students to compete in a 21st Century global society. We offer quality academic and extra-curricular programs to create and ensure an environment where all students strive to reach their greatest potential.
In a society that is competitive and an economy that requires essential skills to earn a living that is not only sustainable but builds wealth for our family and offspring; students need to be prepared in four major categories: (1) Ways of thinking, (2) Ways of working, (3) Tools for working and (4) Skills for living in the world. High expectations have been set for students, parents and teachers to ensure that a foundation of excellence will lead to scholars who are inquisitive, determined, strong, disciplined, motivated and focused.
As I have stated before, the success of students comes with a cost. Teachers have spent many hours planning and creating lessons to engage students in active learning. Additionally, our teachers utilize research-based instructional practices and analyze academic data to determine current skill levels and to set goals for growth and improvement. We believe that all students should graduate prepared for the demands of post-secondary education, meaningful careers and effective citizenship.
As we prepare to rise to new levels of achievement, both internal and external stakeholders are expected to work collaboratively to ensure effective and consistent teamwork, setting/maintaining high standards, remaining focused, having ambition and being determined. We must work diligently to instill work habits and traits to push students to excel. We expect excellence from each and every student this school year! It is vital that parents uphold high expectations and communicate positively with the school to help ensure student success.
As your principal, I am excited to support and guide you and your family on your journey to attain your educational goals. This is the year to RISE UP!!!
